About the Band
An indie folk trio with a loyal local following, The Ship & the Shield blend the bright and melodious harmonies and contemplative songwriting of Evan Huff, Seth Gemme, and Jeff Lynch.
Hailing from Western Massachusetts, and taking influence from classic rock, americana, traditional folk, and more, the group started writing songs and playing music together in the early ‘90’s. Since then, the band has played in a variety of combinations, both together and separately. In early 2018, the trio finally came back together as The Ship & the Shield, and began to hone in on their simple, yet complex, sound. With a focus on three-part harmonies and singer-songwriter flavor, they bring a unique energy to the stage — infecting audiences with emotion-filled storytelling and an energetic spirit.
With Huff fronting, Gemme on guitar, and Lynch on cajon, The Ship & the Shield has sold out iconic rooms like the Iron Horse in Northampton, Massachusetts. The group will soon begin touring after releasing their debut EP.
